This summer, Paris’ original literary hotel, Pavillon des Lettres, is inviting guests to discover the enchantments and nuances of the French language with highly acclaimed French tutoring company, French à la Carte. During a deeply comfortable stay - à la française - guests can brush up on their language and pick up some useful phrases for their stay.

During a deeply comfortable stay, guests will enjoy a private French lesson led by one of French a la Carte’s expert tutors. Founded in 2012 French à la Carte pride itself on a genuine passion for the French language, a deep knowledge of Paris and enthusiasm to teach. Each lesson will be tailored to individual interests and achievement aims, while each class will uncover the meanings behind classic French phrases and delve into the origins of the French language.

Guests can have a go at perfecting their français and learn some top tips for sayings for a seamless stay in the capital – checking directions, ordering a glass of wine or politely asking a local to take their photo. A short walk from the Arc de Triomphe, the Champs-Elysées, the Jardins des Tuileries and more, Pavillon des Lettres is the perfect base from which to explore Paris’ best landmarks.

Back at the hotel, guests can put their new-found knowledge to the test by delving into the hotel’s library filled with books on inspiring French words and images. There will be plenty of time for a pre-dinner drink or night cap at the hotel’s honesty bar before settling into bed for the perfect night’s sleep, dreaming in français.

With 26 rooms and suites each dedicated to a different letter of the alphabet – and in turn a great writer from European literary history – Paris’ love of language and literature is embedded in the bricks of this boutique hotel. From B for Baudelaire, S for Shakespeare and Z for Zola, each room uses quotes from classic writing within its design, inspiring a restful night’s sleep.
